Lunch Box, Flushing, New York, United States (Food rating: 3/5)

I am always amazed how great the economical rice tasted after so many years. The familiar tastes with generous servings of sides and rice makes one feel somewhat warm. If you are on a tight budget, you can always count on Lunch Box at Flushing Chinatown to fill your empty stomachs with hot delicious food.
Priced at USD5.45, you can select four different kinds of side orders and collect a bowl of soup at the end of the line. The soup menu differs every day.

Although there are many economical rice stalls in Flushing Chinatown, nothing beats Lunch Box that offers a wide variety of freshly prepared food dishes. There are seafood, poultry, meat, soy products, vegetables and so on. You will be spoilt for choice.

I enjoyed the food immensely each time I patronised the store. I am missing it already.

Stir fried green vegetables, Beancurd strips, Fried chicken drumstick and stir-fried mushrooms with minced meat over rice. These combinations were superb. The vegetables were savoury. The beancurd strips and fried drumstick were delicious. The mushrooms were fragrant too.

Another combination - braised beancurd with pork, mapo tofu, braised eggs and pork cutlet with sauce over rice.

Sweet sour pork, fried drumstick, steamed egg, and green vegetables over rice.

Mapo tofu, curry chicken, braised eggs and chicken with honeyed sauce over rice.

Fried drumstick, sweet and sour pork, meatballs and mapo tofu over rice.

Beancurd strips with sauce, green vegetables, stir-fried pork and braised tofu.
