Ruth Chris' Steak House, Singapore (Food rating: 4.5/5)

Ruth Chris' Steak House is located at the serene and posh enclave at Marina Mandarin Hotel. Founded in 1965 by Ruth Fertel, there are now more than 120 Ruth Chris' restaurants in the United States, including 12 international franchisee-owned restaurants in numerous countries. It specialises in broiling the finest custom-aged USDA prime beef in its 982.2°C oven to lock in natural flavour and tenderness.

I had a craving for a good steak and read about the good reviews of Ruth Chris' steaks. Torn between Morton's and Ruth Chris', I decided to give this New Orleans restaurant a shot.

For appetizers, we had Sizzlin Blue Crab Cakes - a serving with two jumbo lump crab cakes with sizzling lemon butter sauce. At first, the crab cakes tasted rather ordinary. Then suddenly, the sweet taste of crab meat blended with the lemon butter sauce came out. It was divinely delicious. The fresh crab meat was delightful.

The Onion Soup au Gratin was marvelous. Though I was not a fan of onions, the soft onions  disintegrated once it was in my mouth. The broth was fantastic! The soup, I love it!

For sides, we ordered the Spinach au Gratin. It was creamed spinach with au Gratin in a cheese sauce and drizzled with melted swiss and sharp cheddar. This dish was another level up. It was better than the crab cakes. The cheese mix was extremely delicious. We could not stop eating.

We ordered a filet and ribeye, followed by scallops (seafood) as entree complement. We were totally swooned when the scallops were served. Served with five jumbo scallops seared with cajun spices and lemon butter, the crispiness of the meat was delightful! The spicy buttery sauce brought out the sweetness of the scallops. We could not wait to see how the steaks were going to blow our minds.

Finally, the steaks arrived. The steak did not come with any sauce. Indeed, the steaks blew our minds! The meat was deliciously juicy and naturally tender. The salt coated on the prime beef brought out the rich flavour of the meat. We could not stop talking about the steak - how excellent they were and how did they do it. My palate exploded with the delicious, juicy and tender beef. You must definitely try it.

After the climax, we ended with a sweet dessert - a slice of chocolate cake to share. The richness of chocolate was so sinful though we enjoyed the cake immensely. It was a great choice to end with a sweet note.

The cost of this wondrous dinner for two amounted to SGD500.00.

It was a pity that I did not take any pictures of the food I ate at Ruth Chris'. I was blown away throughout the entire dining experience that I forgot to take pictures.

Ruth Chris, I am coming again, you know.
